Ukraine: Nigeria’s first batch of evacuees arrives Abuja from Romania

Nigeria has recorded her first batch of evacuees from the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

The evacuees, who are mainly students, arrived Abuja on Friday morning from Romania which shares border with Ukraine.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) confirmed on Twitter that the Max Air airline carrying the evacuees arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 7:10am.

The passengers, numbering about 450, landed at the private jet terminal of the airport.

Thousands have been displaced since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. A United Nations agency said nearly 1 million people have fled the crisis.
