Two break into Lagos pastor’s house, beat up wife

Police have arraigned a businesswoman and her brother for allegedly beating up a pastor’s wife and her brother in Lagos.

The defendants, Faith Okoro, 34, and John Okoro, 20, are residents of 36 Alaafia Street, Shasha, Lagos.

They were charged on Friday at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on five counts of assault, breach of peace, unlawful entry and conspiracy.

The defendants denied all the charges.

The court heard that the alleged offences were committed on June 19 at 37 Alaafia Street, Shasha, Lagos.

Police prosecutor, Victor Eruada, said the defendants unlawfully entered the apartment of Pastor Solomon Ogwuche, and beat up his wife, Helen, and brother, John, during a misunderstanding which was not disclosed.

Mr Eruada alleged that the defendants inflicted severe injuries on the pastor’s wife and her brother.

He said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 172, 168, 308,and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate O.D. Njoku admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned until July 15 for mention.
