Two arrested planting bombs on Ebonyi bridge – Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, says that two persons have been arrested while planting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), on Idembia bridge, Ezza South local government Area of Ebonyi State.

Mr Umahi said this on Friday in a special broadcast statewide.

He said the suspects, who have been handed to the police, were arrested by villagers living close to the bridge which links Ezza South to Ohaozara local government area.

Umahi added that the arrest followed intelligence reports that bridges and other installations in the state were under bomb threat by some members of a political party.

The governor also said that a candidate running for a seat in the National Assembly had gone to a quarry site in the state to purchase explosives but was turned down by the operators who reported to the state government.
