Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey supports #EndSARS campaign, calls for Bitcoin donations

Chief executive officer of Twitter Jack Dorsey has joined the campaign against police brutality in Nigeria.

Mr Dorsey urged the public in a tweet on Wednesday night to make donations via Bitcoin in support of the cause which has seen many Nigerians take to the streets in protest.

“Donate via #Bitcoin to help #EndSARS,” he wrote.

Dorsey’s call is one of several made by various international groups, organisations, celebrities and public figures from around the world.

The #EndSARS protests have continued in Nigeria despite the scrapping of the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Protesters have disapproved of the plan to replace SARS with a new police unit called the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
