Tunde Kelani visits Elebuibon to learn origin of theatre arts in Yoruba culture

Filmmaker Tunde Kelani has visited the Araba of Osogbo Ifayemi Elebuibon to learn about the origin of theatre arts in the Yoruba culture.

The Ayinla director posted a photo of himself and the Araba via Instagram on Wednesday.

“I spent the morning at the feet of the Aràbà Osogbo, Osun State, Yemi Elebuibon learning the origin of Theatre Arts in YORÙBÁ culture,” Tunde Kelani captioned the photo.

Elebuibon is a Yoruba writer, poet, author, linguist, and a world-famous Ifa priest.

His plays and films have received worldwide acclamation for his pursuit of the preservation of Yoruba culture and heritage.

He also serves as a traveling lecturer in several institutions including at the department of African language and literature at the Obafemi Awolowo University and Black Studies at the San Francisco State University and at the Wajumbe Cultural Institution in California.

Tunde is known for his love of adaptation of literary material into movies as most of his works have followed that style of filmmaking including Ko se Gbe, Oleku, Thunder Bolt, The Narrow Path, White Handkerchief, Maami and Dazzling Mirage.
