Nigerian woman, Ajayi Omolola, trafficked to Lebanon rescued

Chairman/chief executive of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has announced that Ajayi Omolola, who was trafficked to Lebanon, has been rescued.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said on Twitter on Monday evening that Ms Ajayi is now with the Nigerian Ambassador in Beirut, Lebanon, Goni Bura.

“Breaking news. Update on the viral video of trafficked Nigerian girl in Lebanon. She is now happily in the hands of the Nigerian Amb in Beirut, received warmly and happy to be in safe hands. She will be home soon by God’s grace .🙏🏿,” she said.

Ajayi’s plight became known after she made a video from Lebanon. The 23-year-old said in the video that she was tricked into going to Lebanon to teach English Language but was converted into slavery.

A Lebanese and two Nigerians have been arrested in Kwara in connection with the incident.
