Toyin Lawani claps back at aesthetic doctor for mocking Angela Okorie’s backside

Fashion designer Toyin Lawani has taken a swipe at aesthetic doctor, Dr Bea, for body-shaming Nollywood actress Angela Okorie over her curvy figure, which many have speculated was surgically enhanced.

Angela recently posted a video of herself on a movie set wearing a white top and shorts, with her backside visibly accentuated. The clip sparked discussions online, with many assuming the actress had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) — a claim she has not confirmed.

In the wake of the video, a skincare specialist identified as Dr Bea Aesthetics called out the actress while offering advise to others in the industry.

“The viral video of Angela Okorie is a wake-up call for Nigerian actresses. Less is more when it comes to cosmetic enhancement. And please can we reconsider the BBL trend? It’s fine for influencers, but when it comes to acting, do we really want to see your curves more than your craft? Are you here for sex appeal or your acting skills? Nigerian actresses, it’s time to think before you enhance. What do you think?” Dr Bea wrote.

Her comments drew the ire of Toyin Lawani, who accused the doctor of hypocrisy, claiming she had altered her own face while preaching moderation.

“You say less is more but you are literally carrying another person’s face on your face all over Nigeria, advising people to patronise you. How are you better than her?” Toyin wrote.

She added that Angela — whether she had surgery or not — should be left alone to make her own choices without being shamed.

“It’s high time people mind their business and let people do what makes them happy without body shaming them. If she loves her body, how is it anyone’s business?” the stylist stated.

Toyin, who said she has never had a BBL but would proudly get one if she wanted to, continued her tirade by calling Dr Bea a “joker” and accusing her of putting other women down to promote her own business.

“No slander of @realangelaokorie will be tolerated. Looking like a leprechaun and advising someone is wild. Her life, her choice — in your words,” she concluded.

Angela, on her part, has neither confirmed nor denied undergoing any form of cosmetic surgery.
