Touch not the anointed: Man docked for threatening pastor in Ibadan

courtThe police on Friday charged a 32-year-old man, Emmanuel Ameachi, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly threatening a pastor of Victory International Church.

Ameachi, who claimed to be a freelance writer, is facing one-count charge of threats.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oluseye Oyebamiji, told the court that the accused, on July 17 at 1 p.m., entered the church located in Oluyole, Ibadan and threatened to injure the complainant, Pastor Adewale Taiwo.

He said the accused had told Taiwo to pay a sum of N150,000 to his GT Bank account and was angry that the money was not paid.

The prosecutor said the offense contravened Section 86 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the Magistrate, P.O. Adetunyibi, granted him bail in the sum of N150, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to August 8, for hearing.
