Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, sister to the late on-air personality Tosyn Bucknor, has celebrated the broadcaster on her posthumous birthday.
Tosyn would have been 44 on Friday.
In a joint collaboration post with These Genes Foundation, accompanied with pictures of Tosyn, herself and their father, Mrs Bucknor-Obruthe wrote, “Today, we celebrate the beautiful life of Tosyn, a soul whose strength, light, and courage still inspire us every day.”
She continued, “As I remember my sister, I also remember everyone living with sickle cell.”
“In her honour and in the spirit of the things she loved, we’re asking you to stand with us in the fight against sickle cell,” she added.
Tosyn was found dead by her husband, Aurélien Boyer, in November 2018.
Funke Bucknor-Obruthe is the older and only sibling of late Tosyn.
She confirmed that Tosyn died of complications arising from her sickle cell anaemia condition.
These Genes Foundation was founded by Tosyn Bucknor as a platform to raise awareness about sickle cell disease.
She launched the initiative in 2007 to spark public conversation and support individuals living with the condition.
