Tiwa Savage, Tobi Amusan get emotional in video call after victory

Pop star Tiwa Savage and athlete Tobi Amusan got emotional during a video call to congratulate the latter on her 100m hurdle world record win.

In the video uploaded on Instagram on Monday, Tiwa who could not hold back her excitement stated that she cannot wait to meet Tobi.

“Thank you, thank you. God bless you. Any support, anything, I’m with you a 100%. I’m so happy for you and I can’t wait to meet you,” Tiwa said in parts as she gushed over Tobi.

Tobi also appreciated the singer for her support, adding that she feels humbled having a conversation with the award winning singer.

The emotional Amusan also reposted the video on her Instagram page with the caption: “Humbled ma’am.”

Tobi added love and crying emojis to the caption.

Tobi won gold at the women’s 100m hurdles on Sunday at World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA.

She clocked an incredible 12.06 seconds. But her winning time was not recognised as a world record due to an illegal tailwind of 2.5 metres per second.

The Ijedu-Ode-born sprinter had earlier set a world record in the semi-final where she clocked 12.12 seconds.

The 25-year-old could not hold back tears on the podium while the Nigeria national anthem was ongoing.
