President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as minister of state for finance.
The nomination was conveyed to the Senate in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for confirmation.
According to a State House press release issued by the president’s special adviser Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday, Mr. Oyedele will replace Doris Uzoka-Anite.
Mrs. Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as minister of state.
This will be her third portfolio in the current administration.
Before his nomination, Oyedele served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
The committee reviewed Nigeria’s tax framework and proposed changes to fiscal policy and revenue administration.
Oyedele is from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State.
He is 50 years old and has worked as an economist, accountant and public policy expert.
He obtained a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology.
He later earned a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Taiwo Oyedele worked at PwC for 22 years, joining the firm in 2001.
He rose to become fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader before leaving for public service.
He is a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
