Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has described President Bola Tinubu as his friend and brother of more than 22 years.

Governor Soludo made the statement in a Facebook post on Friday after visiting the president at the State House in Abuja.

The governor shared photos from the visit and reflected on their long relationship.

He wrote, “Yesterday, I paid a courtesy visit to my dear friend and brother of over 22 years, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the State House, Abuja.”

Soludo’s reference to their long-standing friendship comes at a time of ongoing political consultations between state governors and the presidency.

He continued, “Mr. President received me with his usual warmth, big smile, and open arms.”

The governor used the opportunity to highlight the reception he received during the visit.

He further stated, “He again personally congratulated me on the resounding mandate given to me by the good people of Anambra State in the just-concluded governorship election – a victory he described as a testament to the trust and confidence Ndi Anambra have in our shared vision for a livable and prosperous homeland.”

The governor said the president reiterated his earlier congratulatory message on the election outcome.

He added, “I remain deeply grateful to Mr. President for his immediate congratulatory message on that historic day, and for his continued goodwill and support for Anambra State.”

Soludo said the president’s prompt message after the election and his support for the state remain significant to him.

He also emphasised national unity and development, saying, “We are one Nigeria, and together – with God on our side – we will build the Anambra and the Nigeria of our dreams. May Anambra continue to win!”

Tinubu had earlier issued a congratulatory statement after the election in which Soludo was declared winner by INEC with 73 percent of the votes.
