National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prof Nentawe Yilwatda has said President Bola Tinubu is committed to the prosperity of Nigerian workers.
In a statement to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day, Yilwatda congratulated workers across the country and commended their resilience and contributions to national development.
The statement, signed by his media aide Abimbola Tooki on Friday, said Nigerian workers have continued to show endurance despite current economic conditions.
Yilwatda said the administration is focused on policies that prioritise workers’ welfare and dignity, adding that the president understands the role of labour in national development.
He said ongoing economic reforms are aimed at repositioning the country for long-term growth.
The measures, he said, include the removal of fuel subsidy, changes in the foreign exchange system, investment in infrastructure, expansion of social programmes and a focus on industrialisation.
According to him, the reforms are intended to improve productivity, stabilise the economy, attract investment and create jobs.
He acknowledged that the changes may bring short-term challenges but said the government is putting measures in place to reduce the impact on citizens.
Yilwatda said the sacrifices by workers would lead to a more inclusive and stable economy.
He urged workers to remain united and continue to support national development efforts.
Professor Yilwatda wished all Nigerian workers a happy and fulfilling May Day celebration, praying for continued strength, progress, and prosperity for them and their families.
