Thugs set INEC office on fire in Ebonyi

Suspected political thugs have set ablaze an office in Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi State belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The fire was started as early as 2 a.m.

Electoral materials meant for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections were destroyed.

The Registration Area Center (RAC) in Umuoghara was attacked by the hoodlums.

Community Secondary School, Okposi Umuoghara, was also burnt down.

Ebonyi police spokesperson, Loveth Odah, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Prof. Godswill Obioma, confirmed the attack.

“I got a call from the area that the RAC was under attack just few minutes ago. I am rushing back to Command to ramp up response to the situation,” Odah said.
