Teenager, others arraigned over attack on Oyetola’s wife’s convoy

The police have arraigned seven persons, including a teenager, before a Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State, for attacking the convoy of Osun State governor’s wife, Kafayat Oyetola.

The attack took place last Friday at Owode-Ede market. According to the police, one security aide of Oyetola’s wife got injured.

Paul Omolola, 40; Rasaki Hammed, 19; Soliu Waheed, 21; Tiamiyu Bashiru, 30; Olayiwola John, 26; Mutiu Owoade, 28; and Tunde Ibrahim, 20, were arraigned on Monday on a four-count charge of conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, unlawful damage of convoy and assault.

Police prosecutor Asanbe Kayode said the defendants and others at large carried out the attack on August 19 around 8pm.

He alleged that they also damaged three vehicles in the convoy.

The defendants pleaded not guilty, and Magistrate I. R Salami granted them bail with two sureties.

The case was adjourned till September 26.
