Government Day Secondary School, Yola, Adamawa State, was on Thursday shut indefinitely after a teacher stabbed a female Senior Secondary (SS) 2 student.
The teacher, simply identified as Mr Babbal, was said to have had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue with the student named Zainab Adamu.
He allegedly brought out a knife with which he stabbed the student in different places.
The attack angered other students, who allegedly descended on the teacher, beating him to a pulp before he was rescued.
It took the intervention of the policemen from the Divisional Police Station, Wuro Hausa, Yola, to save the teacher from the rampaging students.
Babbal was said to have been arrested while other teachers in the school were invited for questioning.
A report by PUNCH says the injured pupil was said to be responding to treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
