Returning officer for Sokoto State governorship election, Fatima Mukhtar, has adjourned collation of results in the state till 9am on Sunday.

Mukhtar made the announcement after meeting briefly with INEC national commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Amina Zakari.

The adjournment, according to Mukhtar, was necessitated as results were still being expected from Kebbe LGA.

Agents and supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the collation center kicked against the decision of the commission, which they said was part of the plan to falsify results.

Incumbent governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP is currently ahead of Aliyu Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In 20 LGAs, Tambuwal has a slight lead with 10,499 votes against Ahmed’s 10,338 votes.
