Tafawa Balewa’s last surviving wife buried in Bauchi

Jummai Abubakar, the last surviving wife to late Prime Minister of Nigeria, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, has been buried in Bauchi State.

She was buried on Monday at the Bauchi Central Cemetery.

Chief Imam of Bauchi Central Mosque, Bala Baba-Inna, said the funeral prayers at the Palace of the Emir of Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and other dignitaries were in attendance.

Others who also attended the funeral rite were the Emirs of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman; Dass, Bilyamunu Othman; Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya; Misau, Ahmed Suleiman; Katagum, Umar Farouk, and representative of Jama’are, Yerima Jama’are.

Jummai passed on at age 85 at a Lagos hospital on Sunday at 4 pm after a protracted illness.

She is survived by eight children and many grandchildren.
