Suspected killers of Lagos worker, Moradeun Balogun, arraigned

An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of five men in a correctional facility for allegedly stabbing Moradeun Balogun on her way from work at NCIE bus stop, Gbagada.

The suspects, David Obi, 24; Ugochukwu Udochukwu, 20; Chidiebere Nnanna, 35; Samuel Nnanna, 32; Faruk Usman, 20 were arraigned on Tuesday on three counts of conspiracy, robbery and murder.

Police prosecutor, Kehinde Omisakin, alleged that the defendants committed the offence on December 2 around 7 pm at Gbagada.

He also told the court that the defendants stabbed the deceased on her neck with a knife and stole her laptop and other valuables.

According to him, the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Section 223, while conspiracy to wit murder and robbery contravenes 299, robbery contravenes 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The suspects’ pleas were not taken on their arraignment.

Chief Magistrate A.O. Komolafe ordered that they should be kept in the Nigerian Correctional Service in Ikoyi, pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned until January 16.
