Suspected kidnap kingpin, John Lyon should face maximum charges – Darey Alade

Singer Darey Alade has said that suspected kidnap kingpin, John Ewa alias John Lyon, who was recently arrested in Abuja should face maximum charges.

The police on Monday paraded Lyon alongside three members of his suspected kidnap gang at the Police Officers Mess, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

Reacting in an Instagram post, Darey said Lyon and others should face maximum charges for the crimes he allegedly committed.

He wrote: “Ah so he targets bank employees. Niyenn and he was a former cleaner at the bank abi. I’m getting you. The authorities better load them with charges. Perfect example of “don’t believe the hype on the gram”. God protect your people.”

Lyon has been on the wanted list of the police for various alleged abductions in the state.

In a viral video, he pleaded for forgiveness after he was arrested, claiming that his wife was just delivered of a baby boy.

Lyon also claimed he only participated in two kidnapping operations before his arrest.

“Forgive me, make una forgive me, my wife just born sef, a boy,” he said.

According to his bio on Facebook, the Bayelsa State indigene is a former member of staff of Sterling Bank.

In 2019, the suspect put his weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa, David Lyon.

But in February 2020, the Supreme Court sacked Lyon barely 24 hours to his inauguration.

A five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Odili nullified the election of Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in State.
