Supreme Court dismisses suit against Ihedioha’s election

Emeka Ihedioha

The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Samuel Anyanwu, against the election of Emeka Ihedioha as the party’s candidate for the March 9 governorship election.

Justice John Okoro, leading a five-man panel, in a unanimous judgment on Tuesday upheld the earlier concurrent judgments of the trial court and the Court of Appeal, Owerri.

The trial court had ruled that Anyanwu could not prove his allegations of manipulation, thuggery among other vices, which he claimed marred the process.

The apex court dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit and awarded N200, 000 cost against the appellant.
