Super Falcons protest at National Assembly over unpaid allowances

The Super Falcons took their protest over unpaid bonuses and allowances to an all new level after they stormed the National Assembly on Wednesday morning.

Florence Omagbemi’s ladies, despite several setbacks prior to and at the tournament, clinched a record eight African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) title in Cameroon two weeks ago.

However, since that historic triumph, the team have been wholly ignored by the authorities with the Falcons insisting on getting their entitlements before leaving for their respective clubs.

Their decision to storm the National Assembly is aimed at getting the immediate attention of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is expected at the legislature to present the 2017 budget.

While each of the Falcons players is owed as must N5million for winning the tournament in Cameroon, they have only been paid a total sum of N600,000 each (approximately $1, 900), which is a far cry of what is due.
