Sunday Dare denied D’Tigress FIBA participation only to lift ban later, Nigerians speak

Nigerians have again begun calling for the resignation of the minister of sports and youth development Sunday Dare following the lifting of the two-year ban placed on national teams from participating in international basketball competitions.

Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Ismaila Abubakar announced the government’s decision to lift the ban at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.

But the ban has seen the Nigerian female basketball team, D’Tigress, kicked out of the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup billed to take place in Australia in September. The team was replaced by Mali.

Angry Nigerians have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
