A 32-year-old student, Shina Ojo, on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy phone valued at N110, 000 as he was hauled up before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Following his guilty plea, the Magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, remanded the accused in Kirikiri Prison pending sentence at the next date of adjournment.

The accused is facing a three-count charge of felony, wandering and stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, the accused committed the offence on Feb. 6 at 6.30 a.m. at Balogun Bus Stop on Iju Road, Agege, Lagos.

He told the court that the accused conspired with another man still at large to steal one iPhone valued at N70, 000 and one Samsung Galaxy phone valued at N40, 000, belonging to the complainant, Mr Yakubu Oluwakayode.

“The accused was found wandering as the complainant was in the traffic going to work in his car.

“The accused and his partner conspired to steal his two phones. They picked the phones from his car and ran away.

“The complainant raised alarm and with the help of passers-by, the accused was arrested, while the other boy ran away,” the prosecutor said.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates three years imprisonment for offenders.

The magistrate fixed February 14 for sentence.
