Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has called on her colleagues to stop fighting over comedian Baba Ijesha who was arrested last week for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Tonto’s admonition comes on Thursday, as it emerged that the accused may be released the next day according to police sources.

In a message posted on Instagram, the 35-year-old actress said fighting is a needless distraction.

“Stop fighting each other. This is a plan to drive your attention from the real fight,” she argued.

In another post, she challenged the Lagos State Government over reports that Baba Ijesha may be released on bail.

According to her, the case should be transferred to Abuja if necessary.

A police source reportedly told PUNCH newspaper that the ongoing strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has prevented Baba Ijesha’s case from going to court and the suspect cannot be detained indefinitely without trial.

The source added that investigation into the allegation against Baba Ijesha revealed that there was no defilement, adding that when questioned, the victim confirmed the same.

Meanwhile, Iyabo Ojo and Yomi Fabiyi among others have been fighting each other on social media over the matter.
