Ahead of Saturday’s clash against Aston Villa, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that visiting teams no longer fear the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

The reigning English champions have endured a difficult start to their campaign as they sit 16th in the league standings with a record of four defeats, two wins and as many draws from their first eight league encounters.

The Portuguese enjoyed a proud record at Stamford Bridge as he guided the Blues to a 78-match unbeaten run, but the record came unstuck against Sunderland when the Black Cats won there in April last year.

This term, Chelsea have already lost to Crystal Palace and Southampton at home. And Mourinho rues that the Blues’ home turf isn’t the same daunting prospect for visiting sides as it used to be.

“It is one thing is to go to a stadium where there is a big percentage of defeats for the away team, but it is another thing to go to a stadium where the home team have only won once in four”, he said at a pre-match press conference on Friday.

“I think every team that comes to Stamford Bridge doesn’t fear us.

“They think they can get a result.”

Mourinho will be eager to help his side grab all three points when they host Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa tomorrow.
