A soldier partaking in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast has shot dead four of his colleagues, injuring two others, Army spokesman, Sagir Musa, said on Wednesday.

The unnamed corporal, he said, also shot himself during the shock incident which took place early Wednesday at the Army Super Camp 15, located in Malam Fatori, Borno State.

Mr Musa said two injured soldiers were rushed to a military hospital in Maiduguri.

An investigation has been opened on the incident.

“Efforts are on to contact the families of our gallant colleagues who paid the supreme price in the line of duty,” the statement said.
