Skales releases third studio album ‘Mr Love’

Rapper and singer, Skales, has announced the release of his third studio album titled Mr Love.

The Kaduna born singer held an exclusive listening party on Wednesday at the Hard Rock Café in Lagos which had the likes of Soundsultan, Banky W, Shody, CDQ and Mayorkun in attendance.

The 17 tracks album features a number of artistes including, Tiwa Savage, Sarkodie, Afro B, Phyno, Cassper Nyovest and more.

In a post to Instagram on Thursday, the 27-year-old announced to his followers the album is out, appreciating those who worked with him on it.

“The Mr Love album is out now my people….thank you to everyone that worked on this album with me … let’s spread it to the world,” he wrote.

Mr Love is Skales third solo album in three years after releasing Man of the Year in 2015 and The Never Say Never Guy in 2017.

Skales became interested in music while at his mother’s cassette store. He grew up with his mother, a single parent, who did menial jobs to nurture him. Skales met producers Jeremiah Gyang and Jesse Jagz while attending the University of Jos.

His debut single, ‘Must Shine’, was released to critical acclaim. In a 2013 interview with This Day newspaper, Skales described himself as an entertainer whose music is influenced by his surroundings. His 2009 release, ‘Heading for a Grammy’, was inspired by Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Walks’.

Skales signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment after meeting Banky W. in 2009. He released the singles ‘Mukulu’ and ‘Keresimesi’ simultaneously. Both songs were produced by Sarz and released under the outfit.

In May 2014, Skales established his own record label, OHK music. The label is home to producer Drey Beatz and has affiliations with other music personnel within Nigeria.
