Singer Monday Igbinidu hits Shallipopi with N200m alleged copyright infringement lawsuit

Musician Monday Igbinidu has filed a lawsuit against up-and-coming singer Shallipopi, born Crown Uzama, over alleged copyright infringement. 

According to Punch on Thursday, Monday in a letter sent through his lawyers, Chris Otasowie and Associates, on July 25 demanded that Shallipopi pay him the sum of N200 million for sampling his song ‘Ovonramwen’ in his record ‘Obapluto’.

He also demanded a public apology from the singer.

The letter partly reads: “To pay the sum of N200,000,00.00 (Two hundred million naira) only as damages to our client for the infringement on his copyright. 

“A written apology published in at least two notable and widely read Newspapers and on all social media handles used by you for the promotion of your infringement of our client’s copyright.”
