Singer Destiny Boy’s sister rejects ritual death claims, says he was poisoned

The sister of singer Destiny Boy has denied reports that her brother died in an herbalist’s house or was involved in a money ritual.

In a video shared on social media, she said: “He didn’t die at an herbalist house. He didn’t do money ritual. He was too young to die. Y’all spreading rumours should fear God. Whatever news you’re spreading, fear motherhood. Afeez is too young for what happened to him. The spiritual consultation he did wasn’t for ritual. He was poisoned. Be careful what you say online. The person that killed him will die one day.”

Videos circulating online on Sunday showed the deceased with cotton wool in his nostrils. Another clip appeared to show him motionless in the backseat of a car as he was being taken to a mortuary. The exact location and time of the footage remain unclear.

Earlier reports indicated that Destiny Boy was vomiting blood before his death, though there has been no official medical confirmation of the cause. Some social media posts suggested he may have been ill.

Afeez Adeshina, known professionally as Destiny Boy, was 22 years old and known for his Fuji‑inspired Afrobeats music. He began his career in Agege, Lagos, as a backup dancer before releasing original songs that gained popularity across Nigeria.

Before his death, Destiny Boy experienced significant personal milestones. In March 2024, he reportedly proposed to his partner with a diamond ring. Later that year, in November 2024, he and his partner welcomed their first child.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of the exact cause of Destiny Boy’s death.
