Singer Simi has taken to Instagram to call for the prosecution of the person who recorded and shared a viral video showing Comfort Emmanson, an Ibom Air passenger forcibly removed from a flight with her breasts fully exposed.
The incident happened on Sunday, aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos. Emmanson reportedly refused repeated crew instructions to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff. When a fellow passenger switched off her phone, she became verbally aggressive.
The situation escalated after landing when Emmanson physically assaulted the purser, ripping off her wig, throwing her glasses to the floor and attempting to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon.
Security personnel eventually restrained and removed her from the plane. Emmanson was arrested and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Ibom Air has since banned her from future flights.
While many Nigerians condemned Emmanson’s behavior, Simi is focusing on the invasion of privacy caused by the widely shared video that exposed the woman’s bare breasts without any censorship.
Reacting on her Instagram Story on Monday, Simi wrote:
“So let’s say the lady is actually mad and did too much… Someone recorded her being dragged off the plane, Recorded her being exposed like that AND THEN POSTED IT without editing out this exposure or blurring it out. Lol.”
She continued:
“I personally wanna know who posted that video and why no one is holding him/her accountable. Because aunty will face the law, but voluntarily posting her half naked for millions of people to see when less than 10 people actually witnessed it in the first place deserves punishment too.”
In another post, she added:
“Because you can’t condemn one madness and leave another one.”
