President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former First Lady Aisha Buhari on her 55th birthday, describing her as an “Amazon” and a principled woman.
In a statement issued by the State House on Monday, President Tinubu said Mrs. Buhari was not afraid to stand alone on matters that reflect her values and ideals.
“I join the family and friends of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to congratulate her on her 55th birthday. 55 is a significant milestone, and I celebrate with the former First Lady on this occasion.
“Hajiya Buhari is an Amazon, a courageous and principled woman. She is not afraid to stand alone on matters bordering on her values and ideals. She is as ever certain as the North Star; a woman for all seasons,” the statement read.
The president commended her humanitarian work through the Aisha Buhari Foundation, noting that she has supported women and children and provided assistance to families.
“Through her foundation, the Aisha Buhari Foundation, she has upheld the rights of women and children and provided succour to many families.
“She is a voice for the unheard and the forgotten, championing causes that preserve family values and human dignity,” he said.
Tinubu thanked Buhari for her contributions to the country and wished her good health.
“I thank Hajiya Buhari for her contributions to our nation. And I commend her resilience and discipline.
“I wish her a happy 55th birthday, and I pray that God Almighty continue to keep her and her family in good health,” he added.
Wife of the president Oluremi Tinubu also congratulated Buhari on her birthday.
In a message, she said she joined Buhari’s family and associates in celebrating the milestone.
She acknowledged her support for national development through her organisation, Future Assured, which focuses on the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents.
Mrs. Tinubu prayed for the former First Lady’s good health and strength.
