A sex worker Hannah Saliu has been lynched in Lagos for being in possession of a Quran.

Saliu, it was gathered, attended to a customer and was paid N1,000 for her service. She later ran after the customer when she discovered her N5,000 was missing.

The allegations forced her customer to mobilise his friends to search Saliu’s room.

While searching the place, the men reportedly found a Quran underneath her pillow.

They reportedly questioned her for being in possession of it and soon pounced on her.

“The incident happened at Alaba Rago, where a lot of Northerners reside. The girl that was killed also came from the North. Their grouse was that she was not supposed to be carrying Quran because of the kind of work she was doing,” a source was quoted as saying.

Commenting on the matter, Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said, “The case is at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, and three suspects have been charged to court. The incident happened in April.”

The suspects are Abubakar Musa, Sarauta Monsur, and Surajo Yusuf, PUNCH reports.
