Chief Whip Ali Ndume on Tuesday walked out during plenary after Senate President Godswill Akpabio ruled him out of order.

Before leaving plenary, Ndume raised a point of order, citing Order 54 of Senate rule.

He said it was the responsibility of the Chief Whip to remind and guide the Senate on the procedure and processes of plenary.

Through the order, Ndume attempted to draw the attention of the Senate President to matters relating to proceedings of Senate.

But Akpabio, shortly after listening to Ndume’s point of order, said the section quoted by Ndume was not the same as the content of Order 54 cited.

Akpabio consequently ruled him out of order.

At this point, Ndume left the plenary and went to his office, forcing Akpabio to call for a closed session.

Ndume however returned and joined proceedings after he was informed that the Senate had gone into closed session.

The 63-year-old representing Borno South recently accused Akpabio of passing bills without following due process.
