John Lyon alleged Bayelsa kidnapper arrested in Abuja

Alleged kidnap kingpin John Lyon made some controversial Facebook posts prior to his arrest.

Lyon is alleged to be part of a kidnap syndicate that operates in Bayelsa.

On April 27, 2020, he advised his followers in a Facebook post to keep their businesses private.

He wrote, “Nothing good ever comes from too many people knowing your business. being private and lowkey🤐 is the best way to be.”

In an earlier post on January 14, 2020, Lyon advised his followers to increase their hustle so as not to go hungry.

“Make person no deceive u ooh, if you know hustle💪 u go still hungry for 20/20..my brother double ur Hustle no body be ur friend inside,” he wrote.

Lyon has a reputation for flaunting wealth on social media.

In a video recorded on the day of his arrest, he confessed to being part of “only two” kidnap operations.

In 2019, the suspect put his weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa David Lyon.

But in February 2020, the Supreme Court sacked Lyon barely 24 hours to his inauguration.

A five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Odili nullified the election of Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in State.
