Sarri rules Mourinho out of third Chelsea spell

Maurizio Sarri has joked that he doesn’t want to see Jose Mourinho replace him at Chelsea, but hopes the sacked Manchester United manager will remain in the Premier League.

Mourinho, who twice managed Chelsea in the past, was relieved of his duties as United coach on Tuesday with the Red Devils sitting in sixth place and 11 points off a top-four spot.

In his only interview with Sky Sports following his dismissal, Mourinho said: “Man United has a future without me and I have a future without United.”

And Sarri hopes that Mourinho will return to the English top flight in the future.

When asked at a press conference on Friday whether the Premier League would miss the Portuguese, Sarri said: “I think so.

“As you know very well, Mourinho won everything. Won everywhere. So I like him very much as a coach and as a man.

“But I think that he is right when he said that Manchester has a future without Mourinho. Also Mourinho has a great future without Manchester.

“I like him very much, and I’d like to see him on a bench as soon as possible. Maybe in England. Not here!”
