Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, his wife Toyin, and industrialist Aliko Dangote on Tuesday attended the eighth-day fidau prayer for Olanrewaju Shittu, founder of Lanre Shittu Motors, in Lagos.

Shittu died on Monday, February 27 at the age of 65. He was buried the following day at Vaults and Gardens in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Saraki and wife arrived at the venue for the fidau prayer separately.

The two-term former Kwara State governor said via Instagram that the fidau prayer was a solemn occasion and also prayed for eternal rest for the deceased.

“Today, I paid my respects to the Late Alh. Olanrewaju Rasak Shittu and joined his grieving family for his 8th Day Fidau prayer, which held in Lagos.

“The event was a solemn occasion as we mourned the loss of a beloved member of our community. May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to grant Alhaji Shittu a place in Aljannah Firdaus,” he wrote.

Toyin also described it as a solemn occasion in a post on Instagram.

She said, “Today, I joined my dear husband HE @bukolasaraki in observing our respects to the Late Alh. Olanrewaju Rasak Shittu together with his grieving family, friends and associates, at the 8th Day Fidau prayer, which held in Lagos.

“The event was a solemn occasion as we mourned the loss of a beloved member of our community. May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to grant Alhaji Shittu a place in Aljannah Firdaus.”

All three of them – Saraki, Toyin and Dangote – were present at Shittu’s burial.

The late auto dealer is survived by an aged mother, wives, children and grandchildren.
