Samuel Chukwueze gets hero’s welcome at AC Milan

AC Milan players and coaches gave Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze a hero’s welcome on Wednesday on his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.

Chukwueze featured prominently for Nigeria in her journey to the AFCON final for the first time in 11 years.

The 24-year-old left Milan for international duty on January 2 after playing against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia.

Altogether, Chukwueze featured in five of Nigeria’s seven games, although he did not register a goal.

A video which was shared on the club’s Instagram account captured the moment, at the club’s training ground, when Chukwueze received applause from his teammates.

Portuguese star Rafael Leao and others embraced him.

Coach Stefano Pioli also expressed their excitement at the return of the winger.

Chukwueze joined the Italian club from Villarreal in Spain.
