The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reappointed Samson Siasia as coach of the Super Eagles following the resignation of Sunday Oliseh.

Oliseh quit the team citing “contract violations, lack of support and unpaid wages” as his main reason.

But the NFF responded in a statement, saying Oliseh was this week “paid three months’ salary and a half-year rent” but admitted he is still owed a bonus.

The NFF said: “The combination was recommended by the NFF Technical and Development Committee following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation on Twitter in the early hours of Friday.”

Siasia, who will be in charge of the Eagles for the second time, will work alongside Salisu Yusuf, newly appointed Under-20 coach, Emmanuel Amunike and Alloy Agu.

He was coach of the senior national team between December 2010 and October 2011, before his contract was terminated following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Prior to his appointment, Siasia was head of the Under-23 team that qualified for this summer’s Olympic football event in Rio.

The first task for Siasia, who is in charge of the national U-23 side, is to prepare the team for the Nations Cup qualifiers against Group G leaders Egypt at home on March 25 and the return match two days later
