Salah smashes records with four goals against Watford

All eyes were on Mohamed Salah as he notched four goals in Liverpool’s 5-0 massacre of Watford on Saturday.

The Egyptian forward set the ball rolling for the rampage to begin by scoring after just four minutes into the game.

The 25-year-old forward subsequently doubled his tally by tapping home a cross by Andrew Robertson with two minutes left to be played in the first-half.

With Roberto Roberto Firmino scoring the Reds’ third goal of the game, Salah kept it late to bag his third and fourth and emphatically sealed the 5-0 victory for the hosts.

Highlighted below are some facts and milestones surrounding the demolishing job orchestrated by the former AS Roma and Chelsea winger:

  • Salah was involved in all five goals scored by Liverpool against Watford.
  • With 28, he is just a goal away from levelling with Didier Drogba (29) as the African player with more goals in a single campaign.
  • He (36) has surpassed Fernando Torres (33) as the Liverpool player with the most goals across all competitions in a debut season.
  • Prior to scoring his fourth goal, Salah became the first Egyptian player to score a Premier League hat-trick.
  • He’s the next Liverpool player after Luis Suarez to score four goals in a single Premier League game. The Uruguayan did so against Norwich City in December 2013.
  • Salah became the first player in the history of the Premier League to score four goals with his first four shots in a game since Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin did so against Liverpool in April 2009.
  • Salah is the first player to score in 20 different Premier League games since Robin van Persie did so in the 2012/2013 season for Manchester United.
  • As well, he is the first Reds player to score a Premier League hat-trick under Jurgen Klopp.
