Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has mourned Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

The monarch passed on on Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

Reacting to his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, Osupa confirmed that the Alaafin has joined his ancestors.

“Erin wóÀjĂ nĂ kĂş sĂąn bi òkè..Alaafin Joins Ancestors @83! Rest On, Baami Atanda lku Baba Yeye!” he wrote as he shared a photo of himself and the deceased.

Crowned on January 14, 1971, Adeyemi sat on the throne of his fathers for 51 years as the longest-reigning Alaafin.

His first son Prince Tunde and other children received his body at Idi-Igba, Oyo town on Saturday morning.

Born on October 15, 1938, the late king was the son of Oba Adeyemi II, the former Alaafin of Oyo who was deposed and sent into exile in 1954 for having sympathy for the National Council of Nigerian Citizens.

Head of the Oyomesi, Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Ayoola, will now take over administration pending the appointment of a new Alaafin.
