Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has denied being attacked during a trip on Abuja-Kaduna railway.

Daily Nigerian had reported late Sunday that the minister was among hundreds of passengers who were accosted by suspected kidnappers.

Mr Amaechi in a tweet described the report as ‘fake news’.

He said: “Fake News. This 👎🏿 is completely concocted.”

The news platform had claimed that it “reliably gathered that the kidnappers laid in ambush around Mando area and attempted to waylay the passengers, who arrived at Rigasa train station around 8:15pm.”

It also said that mobile policemen and soldiers prevented the suspected kidnappers from having their way.

“We were lucky the police and soldiers are nearby to come our rescue. The minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi was among the passengers. His convoy had to make a detour onto Rigasa road,” a passenger, Musa Lawan, was quoted.

The news platform added that Kaduna police spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, was unaware of the incident when contacted.
