Nigerians have launched reprisal attacks on South African company, Shoprite, located at Circle Mall, Jakande, Lekki, Lagos over xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

Nigerians picketed the building on Tuesday following reports of killings of foreigners especially Nigerians in South Africa.

Reports on social media show smoke coming from a location near Shoprite’s premises.

The unrest began after several persons stormed the mall and began knocking items off shelves.

They were reportedly forced out of the building by police officers who were called to the scene.

A traffic light spot close to the location was allegedly set on fire after the irate persons burnt tyres to show their angst.

South African mobs had launched attacks on foreigners, including Nigerians, and looted and burnt their places of business in suburbs of Johannesburg and surrounding areas on Sunday and Monday.

Three persons were reported to have been killed in a fire started by a mob on an abandoned building in the Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.
