Dangote Cement Share price is worth 160 Naira per share while Berkshire Hathaway Share price is $219,000 per share. Whatever lies in your portfolio, the oxygen we all breathe is – Free per breath. If air cost money the poor would not afford to jog (for we breathe faster went we run).

I thank God that air is still free, so let the review begin!

Erm… can’t remember what happened! The year has travelled so fast. I turned fifty, had a son saw many patients and ran a half marathon.I didn’t keep a diary this year so I am left with just one option. Fish out the bank statements for the money trail tells you where the time went.

Statements don’t lie. We went to McDonalds twenty times this year. To that add three trips to KFC and Nandos and two to Frankie and Benny’s. For the food we have eaten in 2014 we thank thee o Lord. The statements say we watched films but most receipts are in the bin so off to the Film Distributor’s Association website to check out the UK film release schedule and tick off what we saw each month.

Jan – Mandela-Long walk to Freedom/ 12 Years a slave.

Feb- Lego Movie.

March- Monument men/ Captain America.

April- Noah/Half of a yellow sun/Amazing Spider man 2.

May- Godzilla/ X-men. Days of future past/ Edge of Tomorrow.

July- Transformers/ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes/ Hercules.

August – Expendables 3/ Lucy.

September – Finding Fela.

December – Exodus. Gods and Kings.

Eighteen movies in all watched in the cinema. For the films I watched, I praise the Lord and for the son who terminated our movie watching agenda between 21-9-14 to 26-12-14, I shout hallelujah.

So, what did I learn from these movies? In review I learnt that recreation with the family was healthy and helps to give us something to laugh about. It is really those we go out with that matter not the generic story lines from Hollywood. I am grateful for a loving family.

Just in case this review gives you the wrong end of the stick, I must clear the air. I have a day job. And while on the subject of work I have a successful Revalidation this year, so Babawilly is still licenced to heal.

On the health front, the body has been in good nick. I must have run a few miles in preparation for the Birmingham Half marathon in October 2014. Still taking me two and a half hours though and the six pack remains underground, but in all things we give thanks. The legs can still dance and my azonto and skelewu continues to improve.

Reviews are nothing without goals. Did I achieve my goals for 2014? I did achieve some and have moved closer to the other ones. Sometimes you have goals but instead receive gifts which were not on the agenda. The main gift for the year is the birth of my son Joel. If that was all that happened in the year, I would count this year as a giant success but we had other reasons to celebrate.

My wife bagged her Master’s degree in February. That was a proud moment. I was also most surprised that I could write fifty five articles as notes on Facebook and on my blog. I also have write 11 articles for QED.ng. At the beginning of the year when I tasked myself with writing an article a week, I did wonder if I could keep it up but here we are. My friends have been supporting with their kind comments. It has been tough to find time to read so I simply stopped exercising to music but rather play TED lectures, preaching tapes and documentaries and audio-books on my I-pod while out running. I also have stopped playing the radio in the car. I tried to log what I was listening to on my I-pod. I did about forty eight hours of lectures in January but gave up the tedious activity of recording every lecture I listened to in February.

There have been a few firsts. Watching George Benson at the Royal Albert Hall in June was great as was our first ever trip to Morocco in July during which I went up to the Atlas mountains.

The Common wealth games opening ceremony on the 23rd of July in Glasgow was my first opening ceremony and was thoroughly enjoyable. Saw the Queen and Rod Stewart for the first time.

The year has been tough in Nigeria. Boko Haram has been a problem all year long as had been the Ebola crisis which thankfully was contained. Thinking of Nigeria sometimes has caused one to have a heavy heart, but there has been hope from unexpected quarters. The economy has grown for starters.

I was quite proud to watch Half of a Yellow Sun and Finding Fela in the movie theatres in Birmingham. The attendances were poor but it was a start at least. The Super Eagles did us proud in the World Cup.  This is the year that has infected me with the ‘Dia ris God’ phrase that I say all day. The Chibok girls have not been brought back yet. We pray and hope.

In summary, the year has been good. The Bible study I teach at church has been rewarding. Professionally, I have neither killed nor slept with any of the patients, and most are taking their medications as prescribed. On the road, we have driven without mishap and for that I am grateful. The family back home are all fine and in good health. I did not make a Billion this year, nay not even a million but I have laughed and I have been happy. I am grateful to friends and family who have been supportive from Mother to mother in law. From best friends to Uncles and aunties. It takes a whole heaven and earth to train and maintain a Babawilly.

May your 2015 bring you smiles and sunshine.
