Reps deputy spokesperson Philip Agbese attacked in Benue

Hoodlums on Thursday attacked deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives Philip Agbese.

The lawmaker was attacked in Igumale, headquarters of his local government area of Ado in Benue, during a constituency outreach organised to mark the Easter celebration.

Agbese represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State.

The Nation reports that the personnel of Operation Whirlwind of the Nigerian Armed Forces who were on peace keeping mission in the area intervened and rescue the lawmaker.

“I am in shock! I am in a great shock!! I can’t talk to you right now, please,” Agbese was quoted as saying on Thursday night.

Agbese’s media aide Lawrence Oduh said the suspects made statements to the military during the preliminary investigation witnessed by the locals.
