Reekado Banks narrates SARS ordeal

Mavin Records singer, Reekado Banks, has narrated his ordeal with men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police.

The 24-year-old alleged in a message posted on Twitter on Sunday that the men pointed a gun at him before realising who he was.

He wondered what was the difference between SARS and armed robbers.

“I don’t even know the difference btw SARZ and ARMED ROBBERS! The ones I met today overtook in a regular car, No uniforms, immediately pointed their guns and asked that we came down from the car, then calmed down when they noticed me. Biko what if I wasn’t me???” he wrote.

Reekado Banks isn’t the first celebrity to be harassed by the special police unit, as Dr. Sid and most recently Cool FM OAP Dotun, have had their fair share of SARS treatment.

The Cool FM OAP took to Twitter last month to reveal his frustrations in the hands of the special police unit, revealing that he was stopped because of his hair colour which is known be his signature colour.

He wrote, “SARS kuku catch me finally cos of my hair. My ID saved me. It was so funny. They were so convinced they’ve caught a yahoo boy. 6 fully armed men but one was aware. He said ‘Do2dtun abi’ I replied ‘Yes’… he said ‘Dey go, I sabi you’.”
