RCCG members condemn Leke Adeboye for calling pastors goats

Leke Adeboye

Some members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have condemned Leke Adeboye, son of the general overseer of the church Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for calling pastors goats.

Leke, who is also a senior personal assistant to his father, drew the ire of many when he criticised pastors who delivered sermons in their parishes on Sunday, April 3, after his father’s sermon, a day that is known as Thanksgiving Sunday and is reserved for Adeboye’s sermon.

“Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy GO had just finished speaking and preaching. You are not a son, you are a goat sir. Next Thanksgiving service, just do altar call, then Thanksgiving,” Leke wrote in his now-deleted Instagram post.

However, on Wednesday, April 6, Leke advertised a Zoom programme titled ‘Who is a disciple?’ on Instagram and was condemned for not apologising for his comments.

In the comment section of the post, Loyemevent wrote, “Please apologise publicly, the way you made a mistake by saying those words publicly.”

Apelstar said, “Go and drop your ego sir and live exemplary life of Christ. Be a Christ model sir, not the flesh.” The Instagram user claimed that Leke was not anointed, but appointed. Apelstar added that the 40-year-old “could still showcase the attributes of Christ.”

Eddyville6 wrote, “I pity those who think they can learn from you.”

Another Instagram user Snr_Spellz said, “Anyone who calls his fellow minister goat is a disciple.”

Okworihope2090 wrote, “Disciple, who are you following? Pls oh Lord disciple me yourself, be my mentor. I want to follow you and you alone.”

The church has maintained silence on Leke’s statement despite the dust raised.
