Rape: Oluwo to distribute pepper sprays to Iwo women

Oluwo of Iwo Land Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has purchased pepper sprays for distribution to females in his domain to defend themselves against rapists.

The monarch’s move followed his call on the Federal Government to legalise the use of stun guns and pepper spray for females as defence tools against rapists.

In a statement on Friday, the Oluwo called on interested females across the three local governments in his domain – Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa – to converge at his palace at 10am on Monday.

“The palace of the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, will on Saturday, 13th June, 2020 distribute free pepper sprays to females in Iwoland.

“Interested females across the three local of Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa are enjoined to converge at Oluwo’s palace on Saturday by 10am,” the statement read.

The palace also said there would be a brief training on the usage of the item and protection against sexual assault.
