Proud of you always, Ademola Adeleke encourages Davido after Grammy loss

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has encouraged his nephew, singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

After the announcement of the results, Davido shared photos from the ceremony on his X account with the caption, “Oluwa Dey my side,” meaning “God is on my side.”

Governor Adeleke reacted to the post, writing, “Proud of you always @davido.”

Davido replied, “Love u Excellency!!! We move ACCORDINGLY SIR.”

Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his song With You featuring Omah Lay.

The award went to South African singer Tyla for Push 2 Start, marking her second win in the category after her earlier victory with Water.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards were held on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States.

The ceremony was hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah and broadcast live on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+.

Davido has now received five Grammy nominations in his career but is yet to secure a win.

Other Nigerian artistes, including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Ayra Starr, also failed to win in their nominated categories at this year’s ceremony.

After the event, Davido addressed his fans on social media.

“I just want you to feel alright. I love each and every one of you. We Dey game. We will continue to deliver,” he wrote.

He also congratulated winners across categories and said his focus would remain on touring and recording new music.

Davido is scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California in April.
