FG applies for warrant to arrest Onnoghen

Justice Walter Onnoghen

The Federal Government, through its prosecution counsels in the non-declaration of assets trial of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, has applied for an arrest warrant against Onnoghen.

Lead prosecution lawyer, Aliyu Umar, on Wednesday, made the application on resumption of proceedings.

Mr Umar said the arrest warrant was necessary because Mr Onnoghen had absented himself from the tribunal since proceedings began.

Defence counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, countered the request and prayed the court to reject the prosecution’s request.
